The excavation of the site on the moon where "The Slab" was discovered, in Stanley Kubrick's film "2001: A Space Odyssey", makes an interesting (and probably obvious...) juxtaposition with the excavation of the New York City World Trade Center site after the towers were destroyed by Al Qaeda suicide bombers repurposing commercial jet airliners as kamikaze bombs.[fn.44[ Go to footnote! ]] [ ] [ How should we respond to Global Terorism? ]
 
In the movie, one monolith changes the world. In the reality, two monoliths change the world. In both cases: "They sent us a message."
